Everything You Need to Know

Before You Book

40 years of booking all-inclusive vacations across Aruba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, and beyond. Honest, experience-based answers to the questions that actually matter — organized by destination.

What does "all-inclusive" actually include?

All-inclusive means all meals, snacks, drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic), non-motorized water sports, entertainment, and most activities are included in the room rate. What varies by brand is the quality: budget brands like RIU include basic spirits and buffet dining; luxury brands like Secrets include premium spirits, multiple à la carte specialty restaurants, room service, and often butler service at no extra charge. We help you understand exactly what’s covered before you book so there are no surprises at checkout.

Is booking through Doylestown Travel actually less expensive than booking direct on Apple Vacations?

Yes — exactly the same price. Apple Vacations pays us a referral commission directly, so you pay the identical package price you’d pay booking on Apple Vacations yourself. You’re not paying more — you’re just getting a real travel expert’s advice included at no cost. There are no booking fees, no service charges, and no markups of any kind. It’s one of the rare things in travel that is genuinely better and free.

Which Apple Vacations destination is right for me — Cancun, Punta Cana, Jamaica, or somewhere else?

Each destination has a distinct character. Cancun has the widest resort selection and most flight options from the Northeast — great for first-timers. Punta Cana has the best beach-to-price ratio in the Caribbean and incredible resort variety. Jamaica offers more authentic Caribbean culture alongside luxury resorts. Aruba sits outside the hurricane belt with near-guaranteed sunshine. Cabo is desert-meets-Pacific dramatic scenery, better for couples. Puerto Vallarta gives you a real Mexican city alongside the resort experience. Call us and we’ll ask you 3 questions and tell you exactly which one fits your trip.

What's the difference between RIU, Iberostar, Palladium, Secrets, Dreams, and Bahia Principe?

Think of them as tiers. RIU is the reliable budget-to-mid option — great beach access, lively atmosphere, consistent quality. Iberostar is a step up in food and design, eco-conscious, strong value. Palladium is large-scale premium — jungle settings, spacious rooms, multiple restaurants. Secrets is adults-only luxury (Hyatt brand) — premium spirits, specialty dining, butler suites, no children. Dreams is Secrets for families — same Hyatt Unlimited Luxury quality, kids clubs, family pools. Bahia Principe is the best-kept secret in the Dominican Republic — extraordinary beach, great food, and genuine value that undercuts comparable brands. We’ll tell you which tier matches your expectations and budget honestly.

Does American Airlines, United, or Frontier fly Apple Vacations packages from Philadelphia, Lehigh Valley, and Newark?

Yes. Apple Vacations offers packages with flights from PHL (Philadelphia), EWR (Newark), JFK (New York), ABE (Lehigh Valley/Allentown), and BWI (Baltimore) among others. Packages can include round-trip airfare, hotel, and transfers in one bundle — often at a better combined price than booking separately. We can also book hotel-only if you have your own flights or prefer to use airline miles. Just let us know your departure airport when you request a quote.

What is Apple Vacations Luxe Service — and how does it work at AM Resorts properties?

Apple Vacations provides an on-site VIP Representative at most resort destinations — a dedicated Apple staff member available at the resort to help with any issues during your trip. This is one of the key advantages of booking a package through Apple Vacations versus booking directly with the hotel. If there’s a room problem, a scheduling issue, or anything that needs attention on the ground, the VIP Rep is your first call. As your travel agent, we’re your second call — we advocate on your behalf with Apple Vacations if anything needs escalation.

When is the best time of year to book an Apple Vacations package to the Caribbean or Mexico?

Our honest recommendation: January through March (excluding Spring Break weeks) is the sweet spot — excellent weather, great resort atmosphere, and solid pricing before the peak Spring Break surge. November and early December are also underrated — great value, quiet resorts, and beautiful weather before the holiday rush. Avoid Christmas/New Year and Spring Break unless budget isn’t a concern — those are the most crowded and most expensive weeks of the year. Hurricane season runs June–November (peak August–October); Aruba sits outside the hurricane belt and is excellent year-round.

How do I know which room category to book at an all-inclusive resort?

Room category is one of the most important decisions in all-inclusive travel — and the one most travelers get wrong by defaulting to the cheapest option. Garden view rooms can be significantly further from the beach and pool than expected. Oceanfront is worth the upgrade at most resorts. Swim-up rooms are great for couples who want pool access but can be noisy at family resorts. Adults-only wings (like Preferred Club at Secrets/Dreams or Star Prestige at Iberostar) add private pools, premium spirits, and reserved restaurant seating. We know the specific room buildings at the major resorts and can tell you exactly which category is worth upgrading to — and which upsells aren’t worth it.

🇦🇼 Aruba

Why is Aruba different from Mexico and Jamaica — and is it really hurricane-proof?

Apple Vacations Luxe is Apple’s premium on-property concierge service at select resort destinations — a significant step above the standard VIP Representative. Here is how it works. Standard Apple packages include a VIP Representative — an Apple-employed staff member stationed near the resort who assists with excursions, holds information sessions, and is available if problems arise. This alone is a meaningful advantage over booking hotel-only. Apple Luxe is the premium tier above this. At Luxe properties — typically the AM Resorts collection including Secrets, Dreams, Breathless, and Zoetry brands — Apple provides elevated concierge-level service: pre-arrival communication, personalized resort orientation, priority handling of room issues, dedicated Luxe agent contact throughout your stay, and preferred access to restaurant reservations and spa bookings. Practically speaking: if anything goes wrong — a room that does not match expectations, a service issue, a scheduling problem — the Luxe representative has both the authority and the motivation to resolve it immediately. Combined with Doylestown Travel’s advocacy from home, Luxe travelers have three layers of support: the resort, the Apple Luxe representative on-site, and us. We always recommend Luxe-eligible properties for honeymoons, anniversaries, and milestone trips where the experience has to be right.

Is Eagle Beach really as good as people say?

Eagle Beach is consistently ranked among the top five beaches in the world — and having been there, we agree. It is wide, uncrowded, powder-white, and the water is calm, clear, and strikingly turquoise. Unlike Palm Beach (the main resort strip), Eagle Beach has lower resort density meaning it never feels packed. The Manchebo and Eagle Beach area resorts cater to couples seeking a quiet, unhurried experience. If your priority is actual beach quality, Eagle Beach is in a different league from most Caribbean destinations.

How do people get around Aruba — is there a bus or do you need a car?

One of Aruba’s underappreciated conveniences is the Arubus public transit system — clean, air-conditioned buses running up and down the Palm Beach strip connecting major resort hotels, Eagle Beach, and Oranjestad downtown. For most visitors the bus is perfectly adequate and costs only a few dollars. Taxis are widely available and reasonably priced. A rental car is only necessary if you plan to explore the dramatic natural pool and rocky northeast coastline — which we absolutely recommend for one day of your trip.

Is Aruba safe for tourists?

Aruba is among the safest destinations in the Caribbean — consistently at or near the top of regional safety rankings. Violent crime against tourists is extremely rare. The island’s economy depends on tourism, the population is genuinely welcoming, and resort areas are well-maintained. Solo travelers, women traveling alone, and families with young children all feel comfortable here in ways that require more caution in other Caribbean destinations. As a safety concern, Aruba is one of the least worrying destinations we book.

🇩🇴 Punta Cana & Dominican Republic

Is Miches worth the drive — should I book there instead of Punta Cana?

Short answer: no. Miches is a long, arduous 2–2.5 hour drive from Punta Cana airport on roads that are not always smooth — and what awaits are large, sprawling resort complexes in an area with little character and nothing meaningful to do outside the resort. No significant advantage in beach quality or experience justifies the journey. We have sent clients there and heard the same feedback repeatedly: the drive takes a meaningful bite out of vacation time and the destination delivers nothing that Bavaro Beach resorts don’t offer with far less effort. We do not recommend Miches for most travelers.

Why is La Romana's water better than Punta Cana — and is the drive worth it?

This is one of the most important and least-discussed distinctions in Dominican Republic travel. Punta Cana’s beaches face the Atlantic Ocean — the water can be choppier with more wave action. La Romana faces the Caribbean Sea — calmer, clearer, warmer water with significantly less wave action and better underwater visibility. For beach lovers whose priority is swimming and snorkeling, this difference is real. The drive from Punta Cana airport to La Romana is approximately 90 minutes — but for the right traveler it is absolutely worth it. Bahia Principe La Romana, Bahia Principe Luxury Bouganville, and Casa de Campo are our top recommendations. If calm, clear Caribbean water is your priority, La Romana beats Bavaro every time.

🇲🇽 Cabo San Lucas & Los Cabos

Is Cabo San Lucas good for whale watching — when and how should I book?

Cabo San Lucas offers some of the best whale watching in the world — not an exaggeration. Humpback and blue whales migrate through Baja California waters from December through April and sightings are extraordinarily reliable. The waters off Cabo are also home to enormous manta rays that leap dramatically from the water — an unforgettable sight — plus sea turtles nesting along the coastline. Whale watching and deep-sea fishing boats depart directly from the famous Cabo San Lucas Marina. We highly recommend Marie Bonita Boats for both whale watching excursions and fishing charters — a reputable, well-run operation delivering consistently excellent experiences. Book a morning departure for calmer seas and better light. The combination of whales, mantas, turtles, and the dramatic Sea of Cortez backdrop makes a Cabo boat excursion one of the best half-days in all of Mexico.

What is the Black & Blue Tournament and why does Cabo have world-class fishing?

The Los Cabos Black & Blue Marlin Tournament is one of the richest billfish tournaments in the world — held annually in October with prize purses historically reaching millions of dollars, drawing competitive sportfishing teams from across the globe. It is a testament to why Cabo is a premier deep-sea fishing destination. Black marlin, blue marlin, striped marlin, dorado, tuna, and wahoo are present in Cabo waters in extraordinary numbers. The Sea of Cortez — famously described by Jacques Cousteau as “the world’s aquarium” — creates conditions that concentrate large pelagic fish in ways few locations match. Even a casual half-day charter frequently returns with significant catches. If deep-sea fishing is on your bucket list, Cabo is the destination and Marie Bonita Boats can arrange everything from a casual half-day to a full tournament-class charter.

What are the best resorts in Cabo — and what makes the RIU complex special?

For ultra-luxuryParadisus Los Cabos and Grand Velas Los Cabos are in a class of their own — extraordinary service, exceptional cuisine, and spectacular Pacific views. For all-inclusive value with a lively crowd, RIU operates three properties in the Baja California corridor: RIU Santa Fe, RIU Palace Cabo San Lucas, and RIU Dunamar — all with full exchange privileges meaning guests freely use restaurants, pools, and amenities across all three properties. The RIU complex sits within comfortable walking distance of the Cabo San Lucas Marina — one of the most vibrant and beautiful marinas in the Americas. Lined with exceptional restaurants, boutiques, whale watching boats, fishing charters, and sunset cruise departures, the marina is a world unto itself. Spending an evening there — fresh ceviche, cold beer, watching sportfishing boats return with flags flying for their catches — is one of the genuine pleasures of Cabo that no amount of resort time can replicate. The combination of RIU’s value, marina access, and world-class fishing makes Cabo one of our most enthusiastically recommended destinations.

How is the water quality in Cabo — is it good for swimming and snorkeling?

The water around Cabo San Lucas is strikingly clean, clear, and dramatic — the meeting point of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez creates conditions unlike anywhere else in Mexico. Visibility is excellent for snorkeling and diving. The famous underwater sandfall near the arch at Land’s End, sea lion colonies, and pristine Lover’s Beach (accessible only by water taxi) are all best experienced from the water. Snorkeling off Lover’s Beach is outstanding — colorful fish, clear water, and a backdrop that belongs on a movie set. Note: Pacific-facing beaches can have strong surf and undertow not suitable for casual swimming. Always ask your resort which beaches are designated safe swimming areas on any given day.

🇲🇽 Huatulco — Mexico's Best Kept Secret

What is Huatulco and why don't more people know abou

Huatulco is genuinely one of the most beautiful and undervisited resort destinations in all of Mexico — and the fact that it remains largely unknown to American travelers is both its greatest appeal and its best-kept secret. Located on the Pacific coast of Oaxaca state in southern Mexico, Huatulco sits far south of the Cancun tourist corridor in a region where the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains sweep dramatically down to a series of pristine bays and coves along the Pacific. The result is a destination with extraordinary natural beauty, world-class water — clear, warm, and rich with marine life — excellent weather, and a relaxed coastal atmosphere that the more crowded resort zones of Cancun and Puerto Vallarta simply cannot replicate. Apple Vacations and AM Resorts are among the few major operators who offer packages here, which means Doylestown Travel clients have access to this extraordinary destination through channels most travelers don’t know exist.

What makes Secrets Huatulco one of the best resort locations in Mexico?

Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa may have the single best physical location of any Secrets property in the world — and that is not a casual statement. The resort is built into a dramatic cliffside overlooking Santa Cruz Bay, and what sets it apart immediately is this: virtually every room faces the ocean. Not ocean view in the aspirational sense that many resorts use loosely — genuinely, directly, unobstructed ocean. You open your balcony and there is the bay below you, the Pacific beyond, and the Sierra Madre rising behind. It is one of those rare resort settings where the room itself is the experience. The property features a spectacular cliffside restaurant serving exceptional fresh fish tacos and regional Oaxacan coastal cuisine — the combination of the food, the setting directly above the bay, and the evening light over the water makes this one of the finest dining experiences in any all-inclusive resort anywhere. The bay itself creates calm, protected water conditions ideal for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddleboarding throughout the year. For couples seeking romance, seclusion, and a genuinely extraordinary setting, Secrets Huatulco belongs on a very short list of the world’s best all-inclusive resorts.

What is Dreams Huatulco like — and how does it compare to Secrets?

Dreams Huatulco Resort & Spa sits a short distance from Secrets along the same spectacular coastline, sharing many of the same geographic advantages — Pacific views, the proximity of the mountains, and the extraordinary natural setting of the Huatulco bays. As with all Dreams properties, it operates under Hyatt’s Unlimited Luxury concept welcoming families with children alongside couples, and its Explorer’s Club kids program and Core Zone teen program are well-run. The resort offers strong ocean views throughout, multiple specialty restaurants, and full access to the region’s water activities. While Secrets Huatulco edges ahead on pure romance, exclusivity, and room placement directly above the bay, Dreams Huatulco offers the same remarkable destination — the mountains, the water, the birdlife, the regional cuisine — in a setting appropriate for families who want something genuinely different from the standard Cancun or Punta Cana experience. Booking either property through Doylestown Travel gives our clients access to a destination most American travel agencies simply don’t know or offer.

Why is bird watching in Huatulco considered world class — and when should you go?

This is perhaps the most surprising and wonderful thing about Huatulco that no travel brochure adequately captures. The geography of this coastline — where the Sierra Madre del Sur mountains descend directly to the Pacific, creating a narrow corridor between the high peaks and the sea — makes it one of the most significant bird migration corridors in the Western Hemisphere. During spring migration (roughly March through May) and fall migration (September through November), millions of birds moving between South America and North America are funneled along this coastal mountain corridor. The mountains prevent them from cutting inland, so they concentrate along the coast in extraordinary numbers and diversity. Warblers, tanagers, raptors, shorebirds, and dozens of species of neotropical migrants pass through in volumes that serious birders travel specifically to witness. But you don’t need to be a serious birder to be moved by it. An evening walk at either Secrets or Dreams Huatulco during migration season is a genuine cacophony of birdsong — the trees alive with movement and color in a way that is simply not part of the typical all-inclusive resort experience anywhere else in Mexico. Even guests who have never given birds a second thought come back describing it as one of the most memorable sensory experiences of their trip. Outside of migration season, the resident bird population of the Huatulco region — including magnificent frigatebirds, brown pelicans, and the iconic boat-billed herons of the coastal mangroves — ensures that birding is rewarding year-round. For nature lovers, couples who appreciate something beyond the ordinary, and travelers who want a resort experience embedded in genuine natural wonder, Huatulco is unlike anything else we offer.

What is there to do in Huatulco beyond the resort?

The nine bays of Huatulco offer world-class snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, and sport fishing in water that remains clear and warm year-round. The small town of La Crucecita — a short taxi ride from the resort area — is a genuine Mexican coastal village with a beautiful central zócalo, excellent local restaurants serving Oaxacan cuisine, and a market that bears no resemblance to the souvenir strips of Cancun or Playa del Carmen. Day trips into the Sierra Madre mountains toward Oaxaca open up coffee plantation tours, mezcal distilleries, and extraordinary highland scenery within an hour or two of the resort. The Copalita River ecological reserve — a UNESCO-protected area adjacent to the resort zone — offers bird watching, crocodile spotting, and archaeological ruins of a pre-Columbian settlement. Huatulco rewards travelers who want depth alongside comfort — and for guests of Secrets or Dreams, all of the resort luxury and Unlimited Luxury inclusions are fully available as a base for exploration.

Can adventurous travelers visit Oaxaca City from Huatulco — and why is it worth it?

Combining Huatulco with a short visit to Oaxaca City is one of the most rewarding travel combinations in Mexico — and almost no American tourists know it is possible. Huatulco airport (HUX) has direct flights to Oaxaca City (OAX) taking approximately one hour. The ideal itinerary: arrive in Huatulco, spend three or four nights at Secrets or Dreams to decompress at the resort, then fly up to Oaxaca City for two or three nights before returning to the beach to close the trip. Two completely different Mexican experiences in one vacation at minimal extra cost.

Oaxaca City in winter is extraordinary — mild, dry, sunny in the 70s, sitting at 5,000 feet elevation with a climate dramatically more pleasant than coastal Mexico. Perfect November through March. In summer, the city hosts the Guelaguetza festival in July — the most important indigenous cultural celebration in Mexico, a UNESCO-recognized event of traditional dance, music, and costume from all of Oaxaca’s indigenous communities. The food scene has undergone an international explosion placing Oaxaca alongside Mexico City and San Sebastian in serious culinary conversation. Mole negro, tlayudas, chapulines, world-class street markets, and a new generation of chefs combining Oaxacan ingredients with global technique. For food lovers, Oaxaca is a destination in itself — and arriving from Huatulco with beach days already done means you can eat your way through it without reservation.

What is mezcal and why does most of the world's finest mezcal come from the Huatulco and Oaxaca region?

The vast majority of the world’s finest mezcal is produced in the valleys surrounding Oaxaca — the same region you fly over between Huatulco and Oaxaca City. While tequila is made exclusively from blue agave in Jalisco, mezcal can be produced from over 30 agave varieties, and the biodiversity of wild and cultivated agave growing in Oaxaca’s mountain valleys is unmatched anywhere on earth. This is why Oaxacan mezcal is so varied, so complex, and so sought after by spirits connoisseurs worldwide.

The production method is ancient — agave hearts (pinas) are roasted in earthen pits over wood and charcoal, which creates mezcal’s characteristic smoky depth, then crushed by a tahona stone wheel, fermented in wooden vats, and distilled in small batches by families who have practiced this craft for generations. The smokiness and terroir you taste in a quality mezcal is literally the mountain soil, the specific agave variety, and the wood of the pit in that particular valley. Small-batch producers — palenques — welcome visitors for tastings and tours: watching a mezcalero explain the roasting pit, the fermentation, the distillation is one of the most authentic artisanal food and drink experiences available anywhere in the world. For travelers who care about craft spirits, tasting mezcal where it is made — then flying back to the beach at Huatulco — is something unique to this corner of Mexico that no Cancun or Punta Cana trip can offer.

💼 Why Use a Travel Agent — And Why It Matters Who You Book With

Why shouldn't I just book my vacation online myself?

You can — and plenty of people do. But here is what most online DIY bookers discover too late: vacation packages are far more complex than booking a hotel room, and small mistakes in the booking process cost real money and real vacation time. Wrong room category. Wrong transfer option. Mismatched flight connections. Overlooked age restrictions on adults-only resorts. A promotional code that applied to one brand but not the combined package. A date change that triggered a cancellation penalty instead of a free modification window.

Online booking platforms are designed for volume and speed — not accuracy review. More mistakes happen on self-booked vacation packages than anywhere else in the travel industry. Not because travelers aren’t intelligent — because the systems are genuinely complicated and the consequences of errors are non-obvious until you are standing at a resort desk at midnight being told your room category doesn’t match your reservation. Doylestown Travel offers free booking review of online reservations. Already booked it yourself? Call us. We will review your confirmation line by line and flag anything that needs to be corrected before you travel.

I'm booking multiple rooms for a group — can't I just do that online?

Multi-room group bookings are exactly where online booking fails most spectacularly. Booking two, three, or four rooms for a family reunion, a bachelorette trip, or a group of couples requires coordinating room categories, ensuring everyone is in the same building or section of a large resort, matching occupancy configurations, and securing the same flight departure — all of which a booking website treats as independent transactions with no awareness of each other.

Then there is the transfer question. How do you get eight people from Punta Cana airport to the resort on the same van? Online booking does not ask this question. It books transfers per-room with no coordination. The result is half your group arriving two hours before the other half, paying separately, and standing in different lines at the airport. A travel agent builds the group as a single coordinated booking — same bus, same check-in time, rooms in the same section, matching confirmation numbers. Group travel without an agent is genuinely difficult. Group travel with Doylestown Travel is organized from the start.

How do I know if the food is actually good at a specific resort?

Ask the booking website. Go ahead — search “is the food good at RIU Cancun” on Apple Vacations’ booking platform. What you will get is marketing copy. What you will not get is an honest comparison of the buffet quality versus the à la carte restaurants, which specialty restaurant is worth the reservation, whether the Preferred Club dining room is meaningfully better than the main buffet, or whether the resort you are considering has had recent service quality issues flagged in current reviews.

Do you think a phone rep who has worked at a call center for six months and visited four resorts on a FAM trip can answer that question? Genuinely? The honest answer is no. Charley has personally visited dozens of resorts across Mexico and the Caribbean — walked the beaches, eaten in the restaurants, tested the service, photographed the actual beach conditions. When you ask “is the food good at this resort,” you get an honest, firsthand answer based on real experience. That is not something any booking platform or call center can offer. That is what a career travel specialist brings to the table — and it is the difference between a good vacation and a great one.

What happens when something goes wrong and I need to reach Apple Vacations directly?

Here is something Apple Vacations does not put in their marketing materials: during peak booking seasons, weather events, airline disruptions, or any time there is a major resort issue, wait times to reach Apple Vacations customer service can exceed two hours. Two hours on hold, while you are at the airport, while a problem is developing, while your vacation is slipping away.

Travel agents who are authorized partners with Apple Vacations have access to dedicated agent service lines and priority departments that the general public cannot access. When something goes wrong — a flight cancellation, a room issue, a resort problem — Doylestown Travel does not call the same number you would call. We use agent-specific channels staffed by experienced representatives who handle agent cases on a priority basis. The difference in resolution time between a consumer calling the public line and an agent calling the agent line can be measured in hours.

This is not a small thing. When you are at an airport with a family of four and a disrupted itinerary, the difference between two-hour hold and a fifteen-minute resolution is the difference between a salvaged vacation and a ruined one. Having Doylestown Travel in your corner means you never make that call alone.

Why does it matter that my travel agent has actually been to the resorts they recommend?

The travel industry has a term for it: FAM trips — familiarization trips provided by resorts and airlines to get agents acquainted with their product. A conscientious agent uses FAM trips as genuine research. A less engaged agent treats them as a vacation perk. The difference matters enormously when you are about to spend $5,000 or $8,000 on a vacation.

An agent who has visited four resorts — which is common among call center employees at large booking platforms — can tell you what the brochure says and what the reviews generally indicate. An agent who has personally stayed at, eaten at, and evaluated dozens of resorts across Mexico and the Caribbean can tell you which pool at the RIU Palace Punta Cana gets the afternoon shade, which room building at Secrets Akumal has the best beach proximity, whether the sargassum at a specific resort was being cleaned effectively the last time they visited, and which specialty restaurant at Dreams Playa Mujeres is worth making a reservation versus which one is overhyped.

That specificity is not in any database. It is not in any review algorithm. It lives in the experience of someone who has made it their career to know these destinations intimately — and who has a genuine interest in your trip being extraordinary, because that is what builds a 40-year business one client at a time.

Booking a vacation online is easy. Booking the right vacation with confidence — knowing the room, the resort, the beach conditions, and what to expect — takes someone who has actually been there. Call Charley at 888-365-3070. The expertise is free. The advice is honest. The vacation will be better for it.

Why support a small business travel agency instead of a mega-corporation booking platform?

The total price you pay is identical whether you book through Doylestown Travel or directly through Apple Vacations or any major vacation brand. The resort is the same. The flight is the same. The experience is the same. What changes is who receives the commission that is built into every package price regardless of where you book it.

Think about who you know who is self-employed. The plumber who owns his own company instead of working for a national chain. The accountant who runs her own practice. The restaurant owner who opened his own place. The personal trainer, the independent insurance agent, the family dentist. Every time you choose a small business over a mega-corporation for a transaction where the price is the same, you spread economic value rather than concentrate it. It costs you nothing. It means everything to the business you choose.

Doylestown Travel serves clients nationally — this is not about geography. It is about economic structure. When your vacation commission goes to a billion-dollar booking platform, it disappears into a corporate structure with no connection to the work being done. When it goes to Doylestown Travel, it funds a specialist who answers your calls personally, reviews your booking for errors, knows your resorts from firsthand experience, and has a genuine stake in your vacation being extraordinary.

Use small businesses when you can. The price is the same. The service is better. The expertise is real. And the economy works better when the people doing the work benefit from it.

As an authorized Apple Vacations affiliate partner, we offer access to the full Apple Vacations catalog — including RIU Hotels & Resorts, Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, Palladium Hotel Group (including TRS Hotels), Secrets Resorts & Spas, Dreams Resorts & Spas, and Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts — across Cancun, the Riviera Maya, Punta Cana, Jamaica, Aruba, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta.

What Is Apple Vacations?

Apple Vacations is one of the largest vacation package operators in the United States, offering charter flights, scheduled airline packages, and resort-only bookings to warm-weather all-inclusive destinations throughout Mexico and the Caribbean. Apple Vacations packages include exclusive perks such as VIP Representative Services at the resort, airport meet-and-greet in select destinations, and the security of booking with an established, financially protected tour operator. Doylestown Travel clients book Apple Vacations packages at the same prices available on apple vacations.com — we earn a referral credit so our guidance costs you nothing.

RIU Hotels & Resorts: Best Value All-Inclusive

RIU Hotels & Resorts operates some of the most popular all-inclusive properties in Cancun, Punta Cana, Jamaica, Aruba, Cabo San Lucas, and Puerto Vallarta. Their signature 24-Hour All-Inclusive concept means food, beverages, entertainment, and room service are available around the clock — not just at set meal times. RIU is our most commonly recommended brand for travelers who want genuine all-inclusive value without compromise.

Iberostar Hotels & Resorts: Eco-Conscious Mid-Luxury

Iberostar is a step up from budget all-inclusives in design, food variety, and service quality — while remaining more affordable than Secrets or Palladium. Their Star Prestige tier offers a premium in-resort experience including an adults-only pool, premium spirits, and reserved restaurant seating. Iberostar’s Wave of Change sustainability commitment makes them a leading eco-conscious resort brand.

Palladium Hotel Group & TRS Hotels: Space and Premium Amenities

The Palladium Hotel Group operates Grand Palladium family resorts and TRS adults-only luxury properties, often as connected complexes. TRS guests enjoy the premium amenities of their own adults-only section while accessing the full Grand Palladium resort grounds. Palladium properties are known for spacious rooms, extensive dining options, and beautiful tropical settings.

Secrets Resorts & Spas: Adults-Only Luxury All-Inclusive

Secrets, now part of the Hyatt Inclusive Collection, operates adults-only all-inclusive resorts under the Unlimited Luxury concept — meaning all specialty restaurants, premium spirits, butler service in Preferred Club rooms, and room service are genuinely included. Secrets is our top recommendation for honeymoons, anniversary trips, and couples who want a premium adults-only experience.

Dreams Resorts & Spas: Family-Friendly Unlimited Luxury

Dreams is the family-friendly counterpart to Secrets — same Hyatt Unlimited Luxury standard of food and service, but welcoming to children with Explorer’s Club kids programs and Core Zone teen activities. Dreams is the right choice for families who want a premium all-inclusive experience without the budget-brand compromises.

Bahia Principe Hotels & Resorts: Exceptional Beach Value in the Dominican Republic

Bahia Principe is one of the best value all-inclusive brands in the Dominican Republic, operating large-scale properties in Punta Cana, La Romana, and the stunning Samaná Peninsula. Their Grand Bahia Principe tier delivers a premium experience that competes with more expensive brands at a considerably lower price point. A top recommendation for Dominican Republic travelers who prioritize beach quality and resort value.
