Esperanza means “hope” in Spanish. The resort sits at Punta Ballena, on bluffs above two small coves on the Sea of Cortez, between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. Auberge Resorts Collection built it on the idea that a luxury resort could sit in the desert without fighting it.
Native plants were kept in place, the natural rock was worked into the buildings, and the colors of terracotta, sand and deep blue came straight from the landscape. The result feels like it belongs exactly where it was built.

Esperanza is small by Los Cabos standards, with suites and villas set into the hillside, each with a terrace facing the sea. That size is the point: service here is personal, and the resort never feels crowded.

Cocina del Mar sits on the cliff edge facing the Sea of Cortez, with a menu built around local seafood and produce. The spa draws on Mexican traditions and local ingredients. The infinity pool is set so the waterline meets the horizon of the sea.
