Luxury Blog · Playa del Carmen, Riviera Maya
All-suite and all-inclusive, set between the jungle and the Caribbean.
Grand Velas Riviera Maya sits just north of Playa del Carmen, about 35 minutes from Cancún International Airport. The resort is divided into three sections, each with its own pools, restaurants and atmosphere, so it can feel like three resorts on one property.
The resort could not decide whether the jungle or the beach was more extraordinary, so it included both.
Three sections
Ambassador is on the beach and is the family favorite. Zen is set back in the jungle, quieter and surrounded by greenery. Grand Class, also on the beach, is the most exclusive, with the largest suites and the highest level of butler service. Guests can move between sections and use the restaurants across the resort.
Dining and the spa
As at Los Cabos, every room is a suite and dining is the highlight. Cocina de Autor serves a chef-driven tasting menu, and the specialty restaurants are well beyond what most people expect from an all-inclusive. SE Spa is one of the largest in Mexico, with a full water journey through pools of different temperatures.
