Punta Mita sits on a private peninsula at the northern tip of Banderas Bay, the largest bay on Mexico’s Pacific coast. Whales and the Marietas Islands
From December through March, humpback whales come to Banderas Bay to calve, and you can often see them from the beach. The Marietas Islands, a protected national park known for its seabirds and hidden beach, are a short boat ride away.
Golf
The resort has two Jack Nicklaus courses. The Pacifico course includes the Tail of the Whale, an optional hole with a green on a natural rock island in the ocean. It is one of the most photographed golf holes in the world, whether you play or not.
For families and couples
The kids program is one of the best in Mexico, and the Apuane spa offers treatments in open-air settings by the ocean. Casitas and suites spread across the hillside, many with plunge pools and ocean views.
